A Sleek Pelt Rug

Sale price$80.00

Inspired by the sensibility and elegance of MFK Fisher's famed How to Cook a Wolf, a book about how to live, narrowly disguised as a book about how to eat. Fisher’s throwaway, measure-less recipes gave her readers no choice but to join in her flexibility and offhandedness. But to cook like that, wasting neither vegetable-cooking water nor an inch of the oven - required an economy borne of respect for all the pieces of the world that happened to converge in her kitchen. The rugs in Cold Picnic's first washable rug collection, How to Cook a Wolf are intended to be as adaptable and resilient as their namesake, enough so to find their way into some new spaces - bathrooms, kitchens, patios.

20" x 30"  tan with watermelon, azure, peach, dark olive, and magenta colored rug

100% organic cotton yarn

Machine washable rug. The Organic Cotton woven rugs are cool and smooth to the touch, like a pair of jeans that softens over time. Also like jeans, they are versatile, resilient and endlessly adaptable. These rugs are most suitable for medium to high traffic areas.

 Approximately ¼” thick

The lookbook images may have been brightened and lightened and may not accurately reflect the true colors in the rug. Please always refer to the photos on white ground for the closest possible color match. The yarn for all the pieces is hand dyed in small batches. Slight variation in colors between production runs is expected.

Cold Picnic's factory they work with to produce these rugs has been certified by Craftmark, Rugmark, and Goodweave.

Machine washable for any size that can comfortably fit in your washer. Do not fold or squish. Machine wash individually on cold/delicate cycle with a gentle detergent and hang to dry. Ok to tumble dry without heat but we prefer hanging.

Larger sizes may not be able to fit in your washing machine, and for these (or any size) it is perfectly acceptable to maintain using a vacuum cleaner and spot cleaning when necessary with a gentle detergent mixed with water.

In these cases, regular vacuuming is essential to maintaining the condition of the rug. But overly high suction or some beater bars can damage your rug over time. We advise turning off the beater bar function when vacuuming rugs.

If you have access to a suitable outdoor area you may first wish to bring outside and shake or beat thoroughly to remove loose dirt or debris.

We recommend using a rug pad with all our rugs, but especially our flat weave styles.
